Homemade Tomato Sauce (onion & garlic free)

Homemade Tomato Sauce (onion & garlic free)

The perfect healthier tomato sauce swap! Homemade tomato sauce is super easy to make, more nutritious than your standard store bought sauce & super yummy too!! I suffer from IBS (like many others) so having too many oligos (Oligo-saccharides) such as onions and garlic can make me flare up, and sometimes it’s nice to have a meal that I know will treat my tummy kindly! This recipe might not contain the classic ingredients but it’s just as tasty!!

INGREDIENTS

  • 4 - 8 tomatoes chopped (depended on size)
  • 1 tablespoon white sugar
  • 1 tablespoon tomato paste
  • 1 tablespoon balsamic vinegar
  • A couple of fresh basil leaves
  • ½ cup water
  • sea salt and pepper to season

INSTRUCTIONS

  • Chop tomatoes & fresh basil. Season with salt, pepper & add sugar. Put into a small saucepan or pot.
  • Bring to the heat, and let simmer down. Add balsamic vinegar, sugar, tomato paste and water.
  • Simmer for about 10 minutes - until thick.
  • Sauce will keep in a jar in the fridge for a couple of days.
  • Recipe makes around 1 cup of sauce.
