Kia Ora & Welcome to Husk and
Hey! We are Nadia and Elke, a Mother and Daughter duo who love a good bush walk and spicy chai.
Together we have dreamt up Husk and Honey, driven by the need to see a change around fast, unethical and unsustainable consumerism... Our hope is to provide you all with some rad everyday essentials, that promise to be kind to the planet and its people... whilst remaining luxurious too!
We wanted to to curate a collection of luxury essentials that are a little bit special, designed with comfort and minimal design in mind. From the mug you drink your morning coffee in, to the cosy slippers you put on in the evening... and the best hand soap out! Husk and Honey has built a range of timeless everyday goods, that you will love to use yourself & feel good about gifting too!
All products are either handmade by us, designed by us and made ethically, or sourced from ethical artisans. It is our promise to provide you with a range of quality goods for your home & you... that will be staples in your home for a long time.
Sustainability & Ethics:
Here at Husk and Honey we believe strongly in the power of Conscious Consumerism... aka the consideration, awareness and understanding of the social, environmental and ecological impact, of our own individual purchasing decisions.
Fast fashion/homeware is everywhere, it’s accessible & affordable and something that over the years, has become the norm... but we want to work towards changing that.
Husk and Honey strives to ensure that the production, sourcing, manufacturing, packaging and disposal of each and every one of their products is considered... with sustainable and eco-abiding practices being implemented where and whenever possible.
We also don't believe that any material item, is more important than a life... you are probably thinking duh - but the reality is that many everyday items are made in factories that do not provide workers with access to basic human rights, leaving them to work in unhygienic, dangerous and hazardous working conditions. We have ensured that our products are made ethically, by artisans in New Zealand and other places around the globe. You can find more details about where products are made on our (still to be published) Maker's Page which will be coming your way soon!
A Social Enterprise:
Every time you shop with us, you are not only taking home or gifting a beautiful, ethical and sustainable item... you are also making a donation towards care packs and basic essentials for the youth at Te Ora Hou. Find out more over at our The Project page.
